Reliance Standard

The Reliance Standard Insurance company is part of the Tokio Marine Group, which is one of the largest and longest established insurance groups in Japan — the company operates globally, and takes in more than $30 billion a year. Unfortunately for some customers, when it comes to paying out on claims, the company often denies, delays, or diminishes the payment due.

This is because it is cheaper for Reliance Standard to retain a team of lawyers to fight against claims than it is to simply pay what is owed — and they believe that most customers will not have the resources or know-how to fight back.

Don’t let them win.

Our team is here to make sure that you get what you are due, in a timely fashion. We have no fear when it comes to taking on these types of global multi-billion dollar organizations — we have done it before, and we will continue to do it as long as we are needed.

Why Does Reliance Standard Delay Claims?

When you pay your premiums to a company like Reliance Standard, the company takes that money and invests it into markets around the world. Most of that $30 billion + revenue comes from those investments.

So when it comes time to pay out, it is in the company’s best interests to delay as long as possible: the longer they have your money invested, the more profit they can make from it.

What Can You Do When Reliance Denies Your Claim?

You can turn to an experienced, professional law practice to help you. One of the more common tactics that Reliance Standard (and others) use is to look for loopholes or possible misinterpretations in their policies so that they can deny your claim. This is called acting in bad faith and is illegal.

We firmly believe that when a company acts in bad faith, they are not just breaking the law, but they are taking advantage of you at a particularly difficult period in your life — and we will do everything we can to make them stop.

Reliance Insurance Appeal Process

Your first step when Reliance Standard denies your claim is to make an appeal. This is a written request to the company to take a second look at your situation. Unfortunately, this appeal process is very strict in terms of filing deadlines, so you will need the help of a long term disability attorney to ensure that you are filing correctly and within the timeframes of ERISA (if applicable).

The Types of Cases We Manage

When to reach out to an attorney for help.
Always consult with a disability attorney before submitting appeals. The strength of a lawsuit depends on the quality of the appeal.
Insurance companies want you to give up – they save money when you do. Don’t give up! We routinely go up against insurance companies and know what it takes to get your benefits. With so much at stake to protect your livelihood, don’t go at it alone.
Most firms do not provide continued support after your case is won, but we do. We provide you with additional care and protection, because insurance companies use tactics to avoid paying disability benefits after claims are won.

In 2020 I was dealing with a Long Term Disability (LTD) appeal issue with my private LTD provider. After exhausting “in house” appeal methods to no avail, I decided I needed to seek a professional legal team to assist me with my appeal.

I performed an internet search in the Phoenix area and read through several Disability Attorney websites and advertisements. I decided to reach out to Ronstadt Law and supply them with my basic information to have the firm perform an evaluation on my appeal case.

I received a very quick response on my evaluation we started the ball rolling on building information for my appeal. I was in possession of
numerous documents for my LTD appeal; Erin and her staff worked with me to receive these documents for my case file.

Throughout my appeal process, Erin and her staff allowed me to work hand-in-hand with them to provide comments on insurance documents provided by my LTD provider. This allowed me to stay actively involved in my case and to assist in providing responses to the provider.

Erin and her staff were very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous all the way to our settlement. We settled out of court in the summer of 2021. I highly recommend Ronstadt Law for anyone who has need for legal counsel pertaining to disability issues.

I sure picked the right Firm!
