How Long Does Long-Term Disability Last in Arizona?

Aug 24, 2020 | Long-Term Disability

If you are considering applying for long-term disability or are already receiving them, you may be wondering how long will they last in Arizona. In general, it depends upon your disability and whether or not you are eligible to receive other types of benefits.

What Is the Termination Date for a Long-Term Disability Policy?

The termination date for most long-term disability policies can last up to your Social Security Retirement Age (SSRA), or age 65 to 67 depending on the year you were born. You will receive benefits that cover your medical care and income as long as you are disabled and continue to pay premiums.

When Should You Use Long-Term Disability?

Long-term disability is different from short-term disability (STD) and Social Security Disability (STD).
STD is designed to last between three and six months. Long-term disability covers you for disabilities lasting longer while waiting for SSD coverage. SSD requires you to wait for at least five months of being on disability for you to apply, so LTD helps you make it through this transitional phase.
